Progress being made!

Bush said the other day:
The key to success in Iraq is to have a government that's willing to deal with the elements there that are trying to prevent this young democracy from succeeding.

We want to help them succeed...

I'm making good progress toward coming up with a plan that we think will help us achieve our objective. As I think about this plan I'm always -- have our troops in mind. There's nobody more important in this global war on terror than the men and women who wear the uniform, and their families.
Time it took for Bush's adventure in Iraq to kill 1,000 American service members: 17 months, 15 days.

Time it took for another 1,000 to die: 13 months, 19 days.

Today we hit the 3,000 mark, 14 months, 5 days after the last such mark.

Goddammit.

Damn Bush and his elves!

Someday not too far away, Bush will have to answer to everyone he sacrificed "for the good of mankind", when he dies.

His karmic will catch up to him sooner or later.

Let's hope sooner rather than later.

I hear Nitpicker talkin' bad,
About the way we have to live here in this country,
Harpin' on the wars we fight,
An' gripin' 'bout the way things oughta be.
An' I don't mind 'him switchin' sides,
An' standin' up for things he believes in.
When he’s runnin' down my country, man,
Nitpicker is wallkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Yeah, walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Runnin' down the way of life,
Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep.
If you don't love it, leave it:
Let this song I'm singin' be a warnin'.
If you're runnin' down my country, nitpicker,
You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.

I read about some squirrely nitpicker readers,
Who claims, they just don't believe in fightin'.
An' I wonder just how long,
The rest of us can count on bein' free.
They love our milk an' honey,
But they preach about some other way of livin'.
When they're runnin' down my country, hoss,
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.

Yeah, walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Runnin' down the way of life,
Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep.
If you don't love it, leave it:
Let this song I'm singin' be a warnin'.
If you're runnin' down my country, man,
You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.

Hey, first "anonymous", please tell me you're just being sarcastic. We aren't "defending" our freedom over there. Iraq, like many countries created by Allied map-drawing after WWI and WWII, is a chimera that would never have happened if the know-it-all white folks had left it alone. Countries like that usually need a strongman to hold them together, namely to keep people from each other's throats. If you don't think that the Kurds won't break off into their own state as soon as our back are turned while the rest devolves into anarchy or mostly autonomous provinces, you're dreaming.

Like charity, freedom begins at home. And the Bushistas have done fuck-all for freedom here at the mailing address of the free and the brave. 'Member that Patriot Act? Let's frisk little old ladies at the airport and take away their knitting needles just because we dropped the ball at Tora Bora and need to distract people from the fact that we haven't caught Osama yet.

So if you weren't being ironic, get your head out of your crack long enough to look around. We're less free than we were on Sept. 10, 2001. All because jingoistic sheep let Bush and his cronies use xenophobia and ignorance to solidify their grip on power.

Runnin' down the leadership isn't the same as runnin' down the country. 'Specially when the leadership is a bunch of fucktard wankers who wouldn't know reality if it bit their asses off.

Whatza matter, Anonymous One, don't like a little free speech? Or is "freedom" only on your jingoist terms? Here's the memo, trolly: "Love it or leave it" went out of fashion in the Sixties. Like pointless wars that do dick to defend anything but the interest of Corporate America and their bitches in Congress and the White House.

Now, if you're currently wearing a boonie hat and bunkered down in Iraq or Afghanistan, I'm inclined to give you a little slack. But if, as I strongly suspect, you're "defending America" from the public library or your parents' basement, then allow me to exercise my First Amendment right to say a sincere "Fuck you. Sideways. And the horse you rode in on."

Don't pay any attention to the Chimpletons-a thousand of them together can't pool 50 functional brain cells. That's why they rely on the catechisms of the religion-there is no such thing as a Chimpleton with an original thought.

El Shrubbo certainly thinks about the troops, that's for sure. He's constantly thinking of ways to find more of them to park in Iraq, to be the cannon fodder for his failure...
